Weight loss diet chart, built on home food
Most charts tell you what to eat. The ones that last tell you when and how much, and leave your home thali alone.
Nutritionist Preyasi Jadav and wellness coach Sayma, Fitness 365 Olpad.
A sample day
- Within an hour of waking: water, then something with your tea, such as soaked almonds or a fruit
- Breakfast: poha or upma with sprouts or curd, or besan chilla
- Mid-morning: a fruit or buttermilk
- Lunch: salad first, then sabzi and dal, then rotis you have counted or a small bowl of rice
- Evening: roasted chana or makhana with your tea
- Dinner, two hours before bed: lighter than lunch. Sabzi, dal or paneer, and fewer rotis
This is a sample, not a prescription. Portions depend on your own routine. If you have a medical condition or take medicines, your doctor's advice comes first.
Why charts get dropped: seven reasons
- The chart says what, not when
- It asks for separate cooking, which wears you out in a week
- It leaves you hungry, and hunger always wins
- It ignores what happens with your morning tea
- It says nothing about the tiffin and the office
- It watches only the scale, not your other numbers
- It gives you no way to restart after one missed day
